The Odyssey=Finished!

After a long month or so, I have finally finished The Odyssey. It was a long read, and quite boring at times, however I am glad that I took the time to re-read the beginning of the story. I could understand everything that was happening much better, and I began to actually like the story!

The ending was very predictable. I could practically see what was going to happen before I got to the end. I myself wouldn't know how to end a story like that, so I don't mind it! I don't know if I am ready to read the Iliad yet. I think a need a break from the heavy reading, but I am glad that I can say I have read The Odyssey.

I found that the active reading defiantly helped me out in the beginning of the story, but my brain gradually understood the type of writing it was reading and I didn't need to use it as much as I had when I started.

The Odyssey

Every week we are assigned to read more 'chapters' of The Odyssey. I have been reading them, without really reading it. I didn't read it with much effort and I wasn't seeming to get it, or really understand it. It didn't register through my brain so I figured I needed to re-read the books up until what we were assigned to read for this week. I am here to say, I really understand it now and really like the book! I make sure that I read it in a quiet space and somewhere where I can't be distracted! I have gotten to book 13, and am excited to get to 17!

NanoWriMo Countdown!

There is just a little it more than 24 hours to finish my novel and quite frankly, I think if I make the time, I will be able to finish it before the time is up. Overall, this has been a very interesting experience. The pressure to write hasn't been my favorite thing, however I know that if I wasn't given a time frame, I would never end up finishing the novel. What was your word goal? Do you like your novel?

Book 3 and Nano Wrimo

I didn't find book three as interesting at book 2, however it is defiantly getting better as I read on. The plot is developing farther and I am able to understand it more than book 1. Even though this book wasn't as hard for me to read as book 1, I am planning on re-reading it before reading onto book 4 to fully understand what was happening.

My novel is coming along well. I am continuing to write everyday, but sometimes I am not typing it as I write, so I don't always know how much I write everyday. Even though I don't for surely know, I am trying my hardest to reach my goal of 30,000 words at the end of November.

The Odyssey Book 2

While reading the second book in The Odyssey, I found myself to be able pay attention to what was happening much easier than Book 1. I thought that there was a lot more exciting things going on in Book 2. When Telemachus set sail at the end of the book, it really got interesting and made me want to continue to read and move on to book 3! I didn't feel the need to active read as much as I did in book 1 mostly because it was much easier to understand now that I have gotten farther along. Overall this book was much more enjoyable than the previous one.

The Odyssey Book 1.

This week we were to read book one of  The Odyssey. I personally didn't know what to expect from this book before I started reading it. In the beginning I found the text to be complicated and confusing, so I re-read it multiple times. As the story went on, it was easier for me to understand. However, I found that the active reading helped me remember what I was reading a lot better than if I just read the whole thing straight through. I'm not going to say if I like the book yet, because just reading book one doesn't give me a feel for what the whole book will be about, or if I like it. I can't wait to read more so I can understand more of what is happening!
